Have Self-Compassion During Your Ketamine Treatments

Personally, I’m really hard on myself a lot of times. In fact, much harder than I would be on my friend or family member. I’ve also realized that this higher level of standard of myself doesn’t always serve me. So in this blog post, we’re going to talk about the concept of self-compassion and why this is so important when it comes to self-care and healing.

Not only is self-compassion one of the best forms of self-care, but it also aids in healing and transformation as well.

Self-Compassion is Therapeutic

When we are going through healing and transformation, we need to be especially patient and compassionate to ourselves. For many getting ketamine infusion treatments, they have tried many different treatments which didn’t work. As a result, they end up getting even more stressed, hoping that the ketamine will help. 

If the infusion treatments aren’t going well or the improvement is going slow, you can begin to question the treatment or worse, you can begin to question yourself. You may begin to let the negative internal voice get louder, questioning your reasoning behind getting infusions

Self-compassion means treating yourself as if you would treat a loved one who is going through something.

You are your own Friend

Imagine for a moment that you are your own friend. Your friend is going through ketamine infusion treatments and maybe struggling or questioning their decision. What words of encouragement or support would you give them? Take a moment to reflect on your answer and feel the love and compassion you would have for your friend. Now direct those loving feelings towards yourself. Receive your own words of encouragement. 

Don’t hold back on your compassion to this new friend of yours (aka yourself). Give yourself all the love and understanding you deserve.

I’m slowly learning to give myself the grace, understanding, and patience that I usually would extend to those around me. This is really important because when we're more compassionate with ourselves, this actually allows us to do more for others. 

So I highly encourage you to have self-compassion. Give yourself a break. Give yourself a pat on the back. You're doing the best you can. Thanks so much for listening and I will see you in the next video.
