Ketamine Therapy And The Four Seasons of Life
Just like how we experience seasons over the course of a year, our life also has “seasons”.
And sometimes, no matter how much we dislike these certain seasons we’re living in, there are things that cannot change. In this blog, we talk about the different seasons we will be experiencing in life and how, when we learn to appreciate everything, each season has its own beauty.
The Seasons Of Life
This metaphor that I will be sharing with you is something I believe you will find useful, depending on where you are in life. Think of the four seasons that we typically experience around the world. There’s spring, summer, fall, and winter. If we apply these four seasons to a human being's life, we can think about how the four seasons apply to different age groups.
For example, between ages 0 to 25 is the spring of life. Then from 26 to 50 is the summer of life, 51 to 75 is the fall of life, and finally, 76 to 100 is the winter of life. Each of these seasons have their own benefits. When you're in spring, everything is growing and the flowers are blooming. Next you have summer and this is when things are in full growth. It's vibrant, it's lush, and here at Palm Springs, it's quite sunny and warm. It can be a really enjoyable time, but it also has its own challenges because there's a lot of growth that's happening. Maintaining that growth can be challenging.
Next, you have the fall season of life. This is when things are tapering down. Maybe your career is coming to a close. You’re entering retirement, and this is when you're going to be reaping the bounties of the fruit of all the other seasons. You're picking all those fruits and vegetables and enjoying them. Finally, we have the winter season of life. This is when things are getting cold, trees have lost their leaves, and you’re hunkering down for a cold winter.
This concept that life has various seasons is really important to know. Each season has its ups and its downs. But the really fascinating part of all of this is that you, me, and everyone in the world is going to experience these four seasons of life. Knowing that sometimes, when you're in one season and things don’t go the way you want them to, you realize that it’s okay. It’s all about recognizing and accepting which season you're in.

How The Seasons Of Life Relate To Ketamine Therapy
Now, you're probably wondering how this relates to IV ketamine therapy. Sometimes, we see patients who are resisting the “season” they're in. Since ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic, patients can get into a state wherein they feel separated from their environment and from their body. With IV ketamine therapy, it can kind of give you a 40,000 foot view from the top. You have a clearer picture of where you are in life, which helps you accept and surrender to that season.

It’s important to know what season you are in and see what the benefits are of that season. Sometimes, we think seasons like winter “suck”, but it can actually be fun if you make it. It's the time for people to go skiing, snowboarding, and playing in the snow. So no matter how difficult a season may be, there’s always ways to enjoy it. Appreciate the season you’re in, and you’ll learn to accept where you are and who you are at your point in life.
