Appreciating What You Have Through Ketamine Therapy
This video is an adapted transcript of the video above.
In this blog, learn about appreciating your life no matter how good or bad. We talk about how this concept of gratitude is important to growth and healing, and how it relates to ketamine therapy and psychedelic experiences.
Appreciating What You Have Through Camping
Have you ever gone on a camping trip and you're out there in the wilderness? You're cooking by the campfire. You're sleeping in the tent, maybe on that inflatable air mattress if you're lucky. And you might spend a day or two, maybe a week out in the woods or on the beach and then you'll come back home.
When you come back home, you feel so much more grateful to be back at home. You got the running water, hot & cold. You got working toilets. You don't have to use the restroom out in the woods or the porta potty that's out there. You have access to the heater and the air conditioner. Picture that whole experience and the exhilarating feeling of finally being back in your home, sweet home.
Now, the reason I bring this up is sometimes we get so comfortable with where we are, we forget how amazing it is. And that's why when we go on these camping trips, sure we realize it's wonderful to be out there in nature, but we also realize how wonderful it is to come back home.
Ketamine Experiences & Being Grateful
Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic. It's almost like taking a break from where you are right now and dissociating the mind and the body. So when one comes back from that trip and back to their body, they seem to appreciate it a little bit more. They seem to have a gratitude towards what's always been there.
This metaphor of a camping trip and going away from home is similar to that dissociative experience where you take a break from your home (aka your body) but come back and appreciate it even more. And when you come back, you'll have a new perspective and a new sense of gratitude. Maybe a new lens of the things that are going on at your “house” that could change your life for the better.
Gaining Perspective: Camping and Ketamine Therapy
Both camping trips and psychedelic ketamine experiences can lead to a heightened sense of gratitude and appreciation for one's daily life. Camping allows you to temporarily disconnect from our creature comforts, while ketamine infusion therapy’s dissociative experience separates the mind and body.
When you return to reality after camping or ketamine, you can gain a renewed perspective and a greater appreciation for what you have, resulting in positive changes to your life.
