Have you ever been afraid to face the storms in your life? What did you do about it? In this blog post, we talk about how cows and buffaloes react to storms differently and what you can learn from both of them.
The Difference Between Buffaloes and Cows
There's a Native American story about how buffalo respond to thunderstorms versus a herd of cows. When buffalo see a thunderstorm up in the clouds ahead, what they do is they run straight towards that storm. Conversely the cows will run away from it.
Why is this distinction so important?
This is because by the buffalo running towards that thunderstorm, they actually decrease their time underneath the rain and lightning. So the thunderstorm is coming towards them and the buffalo are running straight towards it. This results in a decrease in their time under the storm.
But with the cows, as the thunderstorm comes towards them, they run away from it and it actually continues to follow them!
The point of that story is that sometimes we have thunderstorms in our life and instead of facing them and going towards them, we have a tendency to run away from them.
Moral of The Story
So if there are thunderstorms or challenges in your life, I want to encourage you to go towards it. Face it and by actually doing so, you're going to decrease the stress, angst, and anxiety related to that challenge.
Which one will you be when the thunderstorm comes?
